Privacy Policy

Document Version: 1.0.0 | Last Updated: February 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies globally to users of Epub Translator. We process personal data in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the GDPR where it applies to EU/EEA users, and other regional requirements.

1. Who We Are

Epub Translator is an AI-powered e-book translation tool operated by Meside AI ("we," "our," or "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data we collect through our service.

2. Data We Collect

We collect and process the following categories of data:

Account and identity

  • Email address, username, and password (when you register)
  • Profile information you provide (e.g., display name)
  • Social login data (e.g., from Google or other providers) if you sign in via third-party authentication—we receive only what the provider shares (e.g., email, profile ID)

Usage and service data

  • Translation requests, file metadata (e.g., file names, sizes), language preferences, and usage logs necessary to provide and improve the service
  • Device and browser information (e.g., IP address, user agent) for security and troubleshooting

Uploaded files and translation content

  • E-book files and their content are processed solely to perform translation. We do not permanently store or distribute your files. Translation results are provided only to you for download. We retain minimal metadata (e.g., file IDs, timestamps) as needed for service operation and support.

Payment and billing

  • Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle collects and processes payment data (e.g., card details, billing address) on our behalf. We do not store your card details. For payment-related privacy practices, see Paddle's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and operate the Epub Translator service
  • Process translations and deliver results to you
  • Manage your account, authenticate you, and provide customer support
  • Communicate with you about the service (e.g., important updates, support replies)
  • Improve our service, fix issues, and ensure security
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

4. Legal Basis (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the following bases:

  • Contract: To perform our agreement with you (e.g., providing translation services)
  • Legitimate interest: To operate, secure, and improve our service
  • Consent: Where we specifically ask for your consent (e.g., optional marketing communications)
  • Legal obligation: Where we must comply with applicable law

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion or closure for legal and support purposes
  • Usage and file metadata: Retained as needed for service operation, troubleshooting, and compliance—typically no longer than necessary
  • Uploaded files and translation output: Processed transiently; we do not permanently retain copies of your files or translation results

You may request deletion of your data (see "Your Rights" below).

6. Data Sharing

We may share your data with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the service (e.g., hosting, AI translation APIs, analytics). These providers are bound by appropriate data protection agreements.
  • Paddle.com for payment processing. Paddle acts as Merchant of Record and processes payment data under its own privacy policy.
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

7. International Transfers

Our service may use infrastructure or providers located outside your country. Where we transfer data from the EU/EEA/UK to countries not deemed adequate by the European Commission, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@meside.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (e.g., 30 days under GDPR).

If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You should also protect your account credentials.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies (e.g., local storage) for:

  • Session management and authentication
  • Remembering your preferences
  • Security and fraud prevention
  • Basic analytics to understand how the service is used

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect service functionality.

11. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under 16 (or under 13 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us at support@meside.com and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy
