Copyright Complaints

EPUB Translator is an AI translation tool operated by Meside AI. We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe that material processed through this service infringes a copyright you own or represent, you can ask us to remove it using the notice-and-takedown process described below.

We provide a technical tool. We do not host a public library, and we do not review uploads before they are processed: files and their translations are accessible only to the account that uploaded them. We act on valid complaints once we receive them.

How the takedown process works

Send your notice by email to support@epubtranslator.app, or complete the form further down this page. Email is our designated channel for copyright complaints; the form is a convenience that collects the same information.

  1. Send us a notice containing every item listed under What your notice must include below
  2. We complete an initial review within 5 business days of receiving a valid notice
  3. Where the complaint is substantiated, we act within 15 business days — including, but not limited to, removing the material and suspending the account involved
  4. We report the outcome back to you within 3 business days of completing our review

Legal basis:

This process follows the notice-and-takedown model set out in the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and comparable notice-and-takedown rules in other jurisdictions. On receiving a valid notice from a rights holder, we expeditiously remove or disable access to the material identified. As a provider of a technical tool we do not screen user uploads for copyright status in advance, but we do act on valid complaints once they reach us.

What your notice must include

So that we can act on it, a copyright complaint must contain all of the following:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on the owner’s behalf
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed (title, author, publisher, ISBN or registration number where available)
  3. Identification of the material you are asking us to remove, with enough detail for us to locate it. Because uploads are private to the uploading account, there is no public link to cite — give us the file name, the email address of the account that uploaded it, and the approximate upload date
  4. Your contact information: name, postal address, telephone number and email address
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that, under penalty of perjury, you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf

Notices missing items 3, 5 or 6 are the ones we most often cannot act on. If your notice is incomplete we will tell you what is missing rather than simply close it.

Please note:

  • Make sure everything you send us is truthful, accurate and complete
  • Misrepresentation carries liability: a person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f) and equivalent provisions elsewhere. Where a complaint is false or filed in bad faith, we reserve the right to pursue the remedies available to us and to those affected by a wrongful removal
  • Counter-notification: if we remove material you uploaded and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, write to us at the address below. Identify the material and where it was, explain why you believe the removal was an error, and confirm that you hold that belief in good faith. We will pass a valid counter-notice to the complainant and may restore the material
  • Repeat infringers: in appropriate circumstances we terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright
  • We do not review uploads for copyright status before processing them, which is consistent with our role as a provider of a technical tool
  • We provide the tool only. Copyright in a translation belongs to the person who created it; we neither own, claim, nor take part in any rights over translation output
