Minimum $1.99 per book
Translation costs $0.005 per 1,000 characters of text, and the minimum charge is $1.99 per book. You pay once, for that one book. There is no monthly fee, no plan to choose and nothing to cancel later.
A launch discount is running until 2026-08-23. Every price on this page is the discounted price you actually pay today; the regular rate is $0.025 per 1,000 characters with a $3.99 minimum per book.
Billing is by character rather than by word or by page because a character is the one unit that means the same thing in every language. Pages depend on the reader's font size, and word counts are not comparable between English and Japanese. The count covers the translatable text of the book — chapter prose, headings, captions — and not the EPUB's markup.
You see the exact amount before you decide. Upload the book and its real character count comes back with the price for that specific file attached — not an estimate from a size bracket. Nothing is charged at that point, so if the number is not what you expected you can close the tab and you have paid nothing.
Three real sizes, priced at today's rate:
A 80,000-character novella costs $1.99. Anything shorter costs the same, because $1.99 is the minimum charge for a book.
A typical 500,000-character novel costs about $2.50. Most literary fiction, biographies and popular non-fiction land in this range.
A 1,200,000-character technical manual costs about $6.00. This is the heavy end of what a single EPUB usually holds.
For any other size: divide the character count by 1,000, multiply by $0.005, and if the result comes out under $1.99 you pay $1.99.
Most translation tools bill monthly. DocTranslator and Immersive Translate both work that way: you pay every month whether or not you translated anything, and you keep paying during the weeks you are simply reading the book you already have.
Translating books is not a monthly habit. People translate one book, read it for a fortnight, and come back a month later — or never. A subscription bills the gaps. Paying per book means the cost of a book is the cost of that book, and it is over when the download finishes.

No. There is no subscription, no plan and no recurring charge. You pay once per book, and if you never translate another book you are never billed again.
Yes. The character count and the exact price are calculated from your own file before any payment step, so the amount you see is the amount you pay. Payment comes after that.
Every character of the book's text: letters, numbers, punctuation, spaces and line breaks. The EPUB's markup and metadata are not counted, and neither are images.
Every price on this site is in US dollars, and USD is the currency the payment is taken in. There is no separate service charge on top of the price you were shown.
If a translation comes back with a technical problem — a broken file, missing chapters — tell us and we fix it. That is included in the price of the book.
